Written By: SM Michael Stull, CCS107 PAO

Cochise Composite Squadron 107 completes 8 meetings with Toastmaster International Paul Lewis and Presented with Plaque of Appreciation

September 2007,  Sierra Vista, AZ

Paul Lewis of Toastmasters International Sierra Vista assisted Civil Air Patrol Squadron 107 in creating and delivering speeches and lively discussions on topics ranging from general public speaking, ice breakers, table top discussions and just general fun things.

Toastmasters International, found 82 plus years ago to promote self-confidence, leadership and public speaking is active world wide. Some of its more notable members include Debbie Fields (Mrs. Fields Cookies), the Governor of Hawaii, the Honorable Linda Lingle and Tom Peters, author and management expert. All will attest to the programs offered by Toastmasters available to the general public. Mr. Lewis is invited back to continue with the Youth Leadership Program after a 6 month break.

Some of the advanced topics covered by cadets in their speeches were talking about themselves and things they had done well, fun topics discussed were family, friends, trips and everyday life.

Cadets have come away from these meetings more willing and able to deliver strong leadership directions and exhibit strengths in confidence and self esteem when called upon to lead and assist in given tasks by the local Civil Air Patrol leaders.
